CONFUSION RUINS QUALIFYING AT HOME EVENT

British driver Adam Carroll will start from 16th position on the grid for his home round of the DTM series at Brands Hatch after several problems ruined his chances in qualifying. "I am very, very disappointed with qualifying today. It seems that every time I go out and drive that I get in a completely different car. The balance is inconsistent and each time I get in the car it is like starting again," said a bitterly disappointed Adam.

"I really expected to get into the final qualifying session after the pace I have shown over the weekend, finishing the practice sessions 2nd and then 5th in the afternoon. Qualifying today wasn't helped by the fact that the team brought me in with 2 minutes to go and due to a communication error they rolled me back into the garage. It meant when I went back out with 50 seconds on the clock that I didn't have time to go out and set a final fast lap time."

DTM uses the Indy course at Brands Hatch, where times are always close. And the story was no different today in what is arguably the world's toughest touring car series with just half a second separating the top 14. Adam, driving for Team Futurecom-TME in his 2 year old Audi A4, was desperate to get a good grid position to aid his quest for his first DTM points in tomorrow's race in front of a strong home crowd.

"I am the kind of person that holds my hand up when I've made a mistake but I'm not the one doing that today." Pole position went to former Formula One World Champion Mike Hakkinen.
