Audi keeps title fight in the DTM open
DTM: By clinching third place at Oschersleben Mattias Ekstrom maintained his chances for the DTM title. The Swede is the only Audi driver who can still win the championship this year. Timo Scheider on the other hand, who lost the chance of victory at Oschersleben due to a puncture, is no longer in the race for the title. With Mike Rockenfeller and Alexandre Premat in places five and six, Audi Sport Team Phoenix managed to score points twice. Martin Tomczyk finished his 100th DTM race in eighth place and took one point.
First GT3 podium for United Autosports
FIA GT3: On the fifth race weekend of the FIA GT3 European Championship at Portimão (Portugal) Zak Brown and Matthew Bell from the United Autosports team finished round two in third place, thus achieving a podium position for the Audi R8 LMS. For the American-British duo and Team United Autosport this has been the so far best result with the R8 LMS. In the first race Gregoire Demoustier and Kenneth Heyer advanced from 16th place on the grid to fifth, which made them the best Audi drivers. For Demoustier, who replaces Bernd Herndlhofer in Team Rosberg, this marked the debut in the Audi R8 LMS.
One-two win for the Audi R8 LMS at Spa
Belcar: Despite a grid penalty the W-Racing team celebrated a dominant one-two win at the race of the Belcar Series at Spa-Francorchamps. Because the Audi R8 LMS cars which had clinched grid positions one and two in qualifying arrived too late for scrutineering on Saturday night they were moved back ten places on the grid. After 95 laps the penalty had practically evaporated: Anthony Kumpen/Greg Franchi and Francois Verbist/Bert Longin had pushed forward again to the front of the field and celebrated a well-deserved one-two victory.
Ekstrom Junior wins in Sweden
JTCC: Successful race weekend for Audi driver Kevin Engman. The racer of the junior team of DTM driver Mattias Ekstrom took second place in the first of the two rounds of the Swedish Junior Touring Car Championship at Knutstorp for the fourth consecutive time. In round two he could not be beaten: with a more than four-second advantage he clinched his second victory of the season in the Audi A3.
