Podium result for Audi at the Norisring

DTM: With a fourth-place finish at the Norisring Audi driver Timo Scheider defended the lead in the DTM standings. His teammate Mattias Ekstrom clinched a podium result for Audi in one of the most thrilling races in DTM history in front of 132,000 spectators (throughout the weekend). Up to the first of the three final laps Timo Scheider, who had started from the pole position, was leading the race before dropping to fourth place after an attack by Mercedes driver Jamie Green. Tom Kristensen was another Audi driver to finish in the points. Katherine Legge shone with the fastest race lap.

First win for Audi R8 on the Nordschleife

VLN: On Saturday, Team Phoenix Racing clinched the first victory of the new Audi R8 LMS on the legendary Nurburgring-Nordschleife and Audi's first win in the BF Goodrich Endurance Championship that has been held since 1977. The exploit achieved by Marc Basseng, Frank Biela and Hans-Joachim Stuck also put an end to a nine-race winning streak by Porsche. The fifth round of the season had to be stopped after three and a half hours due to a thunderstorm. At that time, the R8 of the Phoenix team, which had started from position two on the grid, was clearly running in front.

Rasmus Marthen scores points in both races

JTCC: Mattias Ekstrom's Junior Team scored points in both races of the Swedish Junior Touring Car Championship (JTCC) at Knutstorp. In the first round, Rasmus Marthen finished eighth in his Audi A3; in the second race he took sixth place. At the 2009 season's midpoint the 16-year-old is ranking twelfth in the overall standings
