Audi defends lead in the DTM
DTM: Motorsport fans at Oschersleben witnessed an impressive showing by Mike Rockenfeller: Audi's youngest factory driver -- aged 23 -- fought a thrilling duel with Mika Hakkinen, which he decided in his favour on the second-last lap, thus clinching a podium position. The winner of the season opener, Mattias Ekstrom, dropped to the rear of the field after receiving a drive-through penalty for a jump start, but -- after a strong race -- moved up to seventh place, thus defending his lead in the standings. Best-placed driver of a 2007-spec Audi A4 DTM was Timo Scheider ahead of Martin Tomczyk.

Five laps before race end, the Audi driver was leading the field when he had to park his Audi A4 STCC. As early as on lap one, the German Frank Stippler was forced to retire with a damaged front suspension. Best Audi driver was Tommy Kristoffersson finishing in eighth place.
Podium result in debut race

In the 1000-kilometre race at Valencia (Spain) the Swiss drivers Jean-Denis Deletraz, Marcel Fassler and Iradj Alexander claimed third place despite a damaged tyre. The LM P1-Lola of the Swiss team is fitted with the TFSI engine from the successful Audi R8.

In the fourth round of the Belgian Touring Car Series the team of the Belgian Audi Club finished as the runner-up despite a drive-through penalty whereas the team had lost ground in the first heat of the weekend due to gearbox problems.
