Travelling to Zandvoort with good memories
DTM: The memories of Circuit Park Zandvoort (Netherlands), hosting the ninth and penultimate round of the DTM (German Touring Car Masters) season next Sunday, could not be better for Team Abt Sportsline: Last year, Mattias Ekström scored his first ever DTM race win with the Abt-Audi TT-R, his team colleague Laurent Aiello prematurely capturing the DTM title. "Such experiences give an additional motivation to the whole team," believes Audi Junior Martin Tomczyk.
The S line Audi Junior Team driver travels with optimism to the unique race course, situated in the dunes nearby the North Sea. "The track should suit us better than the A1-Ring. The set-up of our Abt-Audi TT-R will be the key to success, in addition drivers´ skill is required: In some corners you have to be very brave and stay on the throttle in order to be fast," added Tomczyk who notched his first point of the current DTM season in the series´ previous race in Austria.
Next weekend, the views of his team mate Peter Terting will not only be pointed towards the track, but also towards the sky. "At Zandvoort, the wind is playing an important role," knows the 19-year-young Bavarian. "According to the wind speed, more or less sand from the dunes is blown onto the track. Conditions can change quite a lot within a few laps."
Laurent Aiello comes to Zandvoort as the best placed Audi driver in the Championship. 20 points behind the leader, at least he still has got a theoretical chance of successfully defending his DTM title.
Double appearance at Frankfurt Motor Show
DTM: The Audi Juniors appeared twice at the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA). Introducing the Audi Le Mans quattro at the "Audi Frankfurt Sports Night" on Monday evening, Peter Terting and Martin Tomczyk drove historic race cars from AUDI AG. The 1981-born Tomczyk steered the Auto Union Type C Grand Prix race car from the year 1936. "An unforgettable experience," said the Audi Junior after his ride with the 520 hp 16-cylinder racecar. On Saturday and Sunday, another visit to the Frankfurt Motor Show was on the Audi Juniors´ schedule: Terting and Tomczyk enthusiastically signed autographs on the AUDI AG stand, together with their driver colleagues from the DTM and Audi sports car drivers Frank Biela, Emanuele Pirro and Marco Werner.
