Audi and Mercedes-Benz will also be involved in the DTM beyond the year 2006. This was declared by the two premium manufacturers Audi and Mercedes-Benz at the occasion of the season highlight of the DTM at the Norisring in Nuremberg.
"This is good news for the DTM fans" said Hermann Tomczyk, deputy chairman of the Deutscher Motor Sport Bund (DMSB). "The DTM is providing great motor racing at the highest level and is being highly regarded all over the world. The fact that Audi and Mercedes-Benz are already now committing themselves to the DTM on the long term is a clear signal to the partners and to other car manufacturers to benefit from the successful DTM platform in the future as well.
The fact that the world's two best premium car manufacturers are involved in the DTM on the long term shows how convincing and good our concept is, and that it is working", says Hans Werner Aufrecht, chairman of the ITR e.V. (Internationale Tourenwagen Rennen e.V.), the promoter and the rightholder of the DTM.
