The MINI Challenge will celebrate its debut on June 4-6 at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz during the fourth DTM race of the 2004 season. The MINI Feeling will also take pride of place alongside racing action in identical Cup cars. This is where well-known racing drivers and experienced Cup duellists meet a handful of celebrities, who want to prove their speed in the media spotlight.

The sports squad will be represented among others by former DTM driver Thomas Jäger, ex-BMW driver Alexander Burgstaller and 2001 DTC champion Markus Gedlich. From other cup leagues, Steve Abold, Katharina König and Jasmin Rubatto, the partner of Opel driver Timo Scheider, will get behind the wheel of the MINI.

The celebrity team will be headed by Ralf Schumacher's wife Cora who, just like TV presenters Dominik Bachmair, Stefan Gödde, Miriam Pielhau and Oliver Pocher, will be gaining her first experience on a race track. "Let's see who's got more points by the end of the year -- Ralf or I," quipped Cora Schumacher.

The John Cooper Works Tuning Kit transforms the MINI Cooper S into a 200 horsepower-strong racing car. All cars have a standardised technology and are equipped with extensive safety features. The drivers' driving prowess is brought to the fore since all cars are uniform.

The MINI Challenge will also be staged during the DTM event at the Motopark Oschersleben this year, as well as at the international ADAC 24-hour race on the Nürburgring and the touring car European championships.
