To prepare for a possible entry during the International ADAC 24-hour race 2003 at the Nürburgring, Opel will be carrying out a second test next Saturday, October 26.

At the tenth and final round of the German endurance championship at the legendary Nordschleife, Opel motorsport director Volker Strycek will be driving an Opel Astra V8 Coupé. The former German touring car champion will be driving Manuel Reuter's race car from this year's DTM. The 462 hp strong Astra will be entered by the Opel Team Phoenix, headed by Ernst Moser, that is located at the industrial zone at the Nürburgring.

"Other than during the initial test in July, it is now our goal to complete the entire race distance of four hours, if possible", explains Volker Strycek. "Based upon our initial experience, we have adapted the suspension for the special requirements of the Nordschleife and we have also added special features for the tank stops."

The four-hour race for the DMV-Münsterlandpokal, in which some 160 touring cars will be taking part, will be starting on Saturday at 12.00 h. Timed practice is scheduled from 8.30 till 10.00 h.
