"Meet the Speed" at the DTM presentation 2003
"Great sport at small prices" is the motto for the new season
The DTM is all set and ready for the new season. Following the spectacular launch last year, Europe's premier touring car series will be presenting itself at the "Europa Park" in Rust near Freiburg in 2003 once again. On April 9 from 12.30 h till 16.00 h, the focus is on the spectator program "Meet the Speed".
Activities include the first drivers' and team competitions of the season with the new Abt-Audi TT-R, Mercedes-Benz CLK-DTM and Opel Astra V8 Coupé. Spectators can count on an attractive and entertaining program in the action arena and at a specially created circuit on the facilities of Germany's largest leisure park. In the "DTM paddock", fans can watch the new race cars from up close and obtain the autographs of all the DTM-drivers.
Jean Alesi (Mercedes-Benz) judges: "During my long career, I have never seen a race series in which so much is being done for the fans." Christian Abt (Abt-Audi) is happy with the fact that "more and more youngsters are showing an interest in the DTM on the grand stands and in the paddock at each race". And Manuel Reuter (Opel) promises: "We will provide some excellent touring car racing in 2003 one more. Anyone who believes that the excitement of last season can not be exceeded, is wrong. It will be even more exciting!"
The presentation marks the start of the countdown: at the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg, a fortnight later, from April 25 till 27, the DTM will be starting into its new season, that has the motto "Great sport at small prices" -- with the best of motorsport fascination on the track, family- and youth-friendly ticket prices and an event program that is even more attractive.
Traditionally, the DTM's partner series will be presenting themselves on this day, too. The German Formula 3 championship, that has been a popular junior partner of the DTM for years, has now graduated into a new European championship. The series, organised by the DMSB (Deutscher Motor Sport Bund) and its French counterpart FFSA, is called "Formula 3 Euro Series." The ADAC junior series "Formula BMW ADAC Championship" and "ADAC VW Lupo Cup" will also be present, and, of course, the Porsche Carrera Cup.
