NEW SOUTH AFRICAN RACORD FOR ANASSIS

Pole position in two classes, a win and a new SA record were the highlights from Round 2 of the 2005 South African National Drag Racing Series for Portable Shades Team CIT Motorcycles rider, Brad Anassis. The event was held at Tarlton International Raceway this past weekend.

After taking up his chances with a brand new motorcycle that had never seen a race track, Anassis was happy after the early practice sessions and showed he was immediately on the pace with the all-new 2005 Suzuki GSXR 1000 from CIT Motorcycles by coming out on top in the 1000cc Super Sport class. Going through the field to take the win overall was just part of the proceedings for Anassis.

Breaking the SA Superbike National Drag record was inevitable on board the all- new Bear built Kawasaki ZX12. Anassis made history to become the first road going superbike to break into the 9.4 second barrier at a top speed of 244kmh over the 400m race track.

"Right from the start I had great pace from the Portable Shade ZX12 and the CIT GSXR 1000. Before the event I said that I have great faith in Bear and his crew and the practice times showed we were on the money," Anassis said.
