NHRA: Krisher Has Top Streak in Pro Stock
Ron Krisher, driver of the Eagle One Chevrolet Cavalier, leads the NHRA POWERade Pro Stock class by qualifying for 65 consecutive races. Pro Stock may well be America's most competitive series, with at least 34 cars typically showing up to compete for 16 qualifying positions. Krisher gained his seventh No. 1 qualifying spot of the year in the recent U.S. Nationals at Indianapolis Raceway Park.
Three-time Pro Stock Motorcycle champ Matt Hines, Eagle One Suzuki, has four No. 1 qualifying efforts this season.
Meanwhile, at the U.S. Nationals, Top Fuel team owner Joe Amato announced he has signed driver Darrell Russell and crew chief Wayne Dupuy to three-year contract extensions. Valvoline has renewed its associate sponsorship of Amato's team for the 19th season.
NASCAR: Benson Rebounds at New Hampshire
After missing the season's first Winston Cup event at New Hampshire due to injury, Johnny Benson produced a strong performance there in last Sunday's rain-shortened race. Benson qualified the No. 10 Valvoline Pontiac second, led 53 laps, and finished fourth. NASCAR's at Dover Downs this weekend.
