NHRA POWERade Series in Madison, Ill. Bruce Sarver qualified the White Cap Toyota Celica in 14th place this weekend at the Sears Craftsman Nationals in Madison, Ill., as the entire field struggled through traction problems on a hot Midwestern weekend.

In the first-round elimination match on Sunday against Del Worsham, Sarver had the Celica Funny Car out front at the half-way point on the quarter-mile track. Unfortunately, Worsham was able to edge Sarver by 0.018 seconds in a close race.

Although he has only run in five of 12 events, Sarver remains in 16th place overall in the POWERade Funny Car standings. Combined with Gary Scelzi$B!G(Bs early season results, the White Cap Toyota Celica Funny Car has earned 617 national points, seventh best in 2002.

The next event is the 23rd annual Mopar Parts Mile-High Nationals in Denver, July 18-21.

NHRA Summitt Sport Compact Drag Racing Series
