IHRA World Record Holder Chris Holbrook and Teammate Stewart Evans Ready to Deliver 1-2 Punch in 1999
Garden City, Mich. -- As last year's IHRA drag racing season drew to a close, the Stu Evans Racing Pro Stock team of Stewart Evans and Chris Holbrook was on a roll. But the season ended with some unfinished business.
Now, after what can only be described as an extremely successful 1998, with Holbrook finishing 3rd in points and Evans finishing 7th, the duo have set their sights on a lofty goal - finishing 1-2 in the 1999 IHRA Pro Stock Championship.
The first step towards that goal begins this weekend at Houston Raceway Park, where the Stu Evans Racing Team will participate in the 7th Annual Pro Stock Superbowl, a pre-season testing and tuning event.
22 year-old Stewart Evans has been spending the off-season working at the family's auto dealerships in Michigan. The desk time has been mind-numbing. He's ready to get back behind the wheel.
"1998 for the Stu Evans Racing Team was a real confidence builder," said Evans. We reset the National Record and both of us finished in the Top 10. I'm excited to back into the car and try out our new equipment."
Teammate and IHRA Pro Stock World Record Holder Chris Holbrook is anxious to see what the changes made to the team's cars during the off-season, will bring.
"We had an awesome year last year," said Holbrook. "We've got some new ideas that we've put in the cars and I can't wait to get to Houston to try them out."
Veteran crew chief Butch Peterson added," Since the last race (Shreveport) we never stopped working. Both cars are prepped and ready to go. I'm anxious to get them on the track at Houston."
The 7th Annual Pro Stock Superbowl takes place at Houston Raceway Park on Saturday, January 30.
