GARDEN CITY, Mich. -- With the start of the 1999 IHRA Snap-on Drag Racing season just weeks away, the IHRA's Pro Stock teams head to Darlington, SC this weekend for the Majesty Homes Groundhog Warm -Up at Darlington International Dragway.
Ready to take on the competition in a real test is Stu Evans/Ford Credit Racing drivers Stewart Evans and Chris Holbrook. Pre-season testing has already yielded sub-national record ET performances, and now the team is anxious to take on their Pro Stock competition.
"So far, our last two test sessions have gone extremely well for the team," said Stewart Evans. "But at this time, we're trying to keep ourselves focused on the job at hand - winning the 1999 IHRA Pro Stock championship.
"The Groundhog Warm-Up will really let us know how we measure up and....it will also tell us who has the power and who does not. We're looking to run some good numbers at Darlington and I know we're ready for the season to begin."
Teammate and current IHRA Pro Stock Top Speed record holder Chris Holbrook says, "This test session at Darlington should tell us where we measure up against the rest of our competition, including the IHRA's current ET record holder Steve Spiess.
"We tried some new things on the cars at last month's Pro Stock Superbowl in Houston that worked very well. Now, we're taking what we've learned there and adding it to our basic set-up. It'll be good to see exactly where we stand."
The third annual Majesty Homes Groundhog Warm-Up at Darlington International Dragway in Darlington, S.C. takes place February 17 - 20.
