The Slate Belt Auto Parts Race Team gets together on June 17 in Bangor with the Steve Park/Darrell Waltrip Pennzoil No.1.
Lisa Moyer from Pen Argyl is consistently making it to the money rounds at Island Dragway this season in the Moyer Racing Firebird. Lisa said, "Some experiments with tire pressure are definitely making a difference with the Firebird's consistency leaving the starting line." The Moyer race team is planning to attend many special events this month along with running the weekly points races at Island Dragway in Great Meadows, New Jersey.
Barry Moyer of Pen Argyl ran three time shots in the 9.20 second E.T. range @ 144mph, then the transmission failed at the starting line in round one. Barry's racing schedule is very busy in June. The Moyer Racing "Adrenalized" Ford Maverick is featured on the promotional flyer for the Ford Motorsport Nationals, June 19-21, at Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, Pa. He will also compete in the ESTA Nostalgia Meet June 28 at Island Dragway.
Bangor's Bruce Kline is finally getting the Kline's Auto Repair No.59 Modified hooked up at the Orange County Speedway in Middletown, New York.. Bruce has been finishing in the top ten in feature races. A 9th place finish and a 4th place finish the following week should move Bruce into the top ten in the Orange County Speedway Modified point standings.
Butch Tittle of Saylorsburg, Pa., was quoted in last month's newsletter as saying, "The management at New Egypt can even take suggestions and criticism, and you know I can give it!" Apparently Tittle's criticism was too harsh even for the management at New Egypt Speedway. Tittle has been banned for life from competing at the New Egypt Speedway. Both sides have different opinions of what happened during the incident. But Butch will offer his account at the Slate Belt Auto Parts Show on June 17. The Tittle Race Team will now focus on winning races and a championship at Penn Can Speedway on Friday nights. Tittle has picked up a ride in the Mike Altemose owned No.57A small block Modified at Orange County.
John Richetta of Easton, Pa. is competing with the Central New York Mini Sprints and the Richetta Race Team has been running closer to the front each week. After a 14th place finish, the following two weeks produced a 10th place at Accord Speedway and a 7th at Afton Speedway. On May 30, at Dunn Hill Speedway, one of the drivers that John has competed with crashed into the third turn wall during the feature.Greg Trumpower, of Clear Spring, Maryland received serious brain injuries and remains in critical condition. The big event for the month of June is the Slate Belt Auto Parts Race Team Show at Slate Belt Auto Parts at 216 Blue Valley Drive (Rt.512) in Bangor, Pa. Ed Pados said, "We will have the NASCAR Winston Cup Pennzoil No.1 here for the day along with the cars of our race team. They will be on display from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday June 17." Other area racers are also going to have their cars on display in the Slate Belt Auto Parts parking lot. From Quarter Midgets to Modifieds, local drivers; Eric Palmer, Zane Zeiner, Don Holland, Ed Fatzinger Jr., Larry Hoagland, Tom Lutzi, George Apt, Jason Trinchere and Shane Kenyon are scheduled to attend. "Monday Night Motorsports", the radio show heard every week from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on AM 1230 WEEX will also provide prizes for a trivia contest.
