SHREVEPORT - Friday Rain Delay Rain Turns Red River Into a Red River by Larry Sullivan SHREVEPORT, La. - SUMMIT FastNews - Shortly before the call went out for Stock Eliminator cars to report to the staging lanes to open the 1998 IHRA World Finals, Mother Nature delivered a surprise downpour at Red River Raceway. Though the new facility sports lots of paved parking, it also sports a lot of raw, red dirt. The rain turned the paved areas into small lakes and the dirt areas into mud bogs.

The event is currently on hold while the Professional Track Services crew dries the racing surface and Mother Nature dries the rest. Once there's a surface to race on and enough dry pit area to move the cars without making things worse, the event will get under way. The current plan is to shift the original schedule to the right, staying with the original sequence of events regardless of the time of day. Obviously, this plan is subject to change should further delays be necessary. Results provided by the FastNews Network, courtesy of Summit Racing Equipment ** http://www.summitracing.com/ **
