Scotty Cannon To Fly New Banner In 1998

SHELBY, NC— Triple D Publications will venture into a new marketing direction for the 1998 IHRA Snap-On Drag Racing season. Instead of the traditional OnSat livery that has been emblazoned on Scotty Cannon’s Pro Modified entries since 1989, it will now boast Triple D’s new CABLE TV Magazine. Company President Doug Brown says the change is to attack a much broader market.

“We have achieved our desired goals with OnSat,” explained Brown. “The cable television market covers a much broader market than the satellite industry and I feel that our racing promotions will effectively drive us into that market.”

Brown continues, “Scotty Cannon has always provided us with a great marketing tool for Triple D. I fully expect him to bring exposure to CABLE TV Magazine and make it as regular a name as he enabled us to do with OnSat.”

Cannon will campaign a 1953 Studebaker in IHRA Pro Modified this season. He will utilize a supercharged powerplant to start the season after spending much of the 1997 season sorting out a nitrous-injected combination. Earlier in 1998, Cannon drove the Studebaker to the International Top Doorslammer championship while on tour in Australia.
