ROCKINGHAM, NC-Mopar Performance Pro Modified driver Tommy Mauney lost to Mike Castellana in the first round of the Holley Spring Nationals at Rockingham Dragway today. Mauney's '41 Willys went into severe tireshake right from the launch, and made a hard move left, forcing the Shelby, North Carolina driver to lift. Castellana went on to take the win, running 6.386/221.20.

"Pro Modified race cars are so temperamental and you just have to know when to ride out the storm and when to lift," explained Mauney. "I tried to drive through the tires rattling, but we gave up too much real estate. Mike is a good driver and I knew that he was going to be tough. He left no margin for error."

The former world champion qualified in the seventh position with a 6.408/217.74, and looks to improve on his showing at the next event on the IHRA tour, the Mopar Performance Parts Nationals at Great Bend, Ontario. Look for the North Carolina chassis builder to rebound in Canada.

"We're pleased with our progress thus far this season," explained Mauney. "We'll just try to get a win at the next one."
