Montecalvo Headlines Sunoco Pro Stock Shootout

Center Moriches, N.Y. -John Montecalvo has the distinguished honor of leading the Pro Stock field into battle at this year's Sunoco Pro Stock Shootout. The bonus program, held annually during the Sunoco World Nationals, allows eight of the quickest drivers in the class to battle head-to-head for an additional purse.

Based on qualifying performance rather than the number of rounds won, places are earned based on the final round of qualifying for a specified number of events.

"I think what makes this event so great is that it rewards the guys who are consistently qualifying well," the Citgo / Moser Engineering driver commented. "It has no bearing on point standings and it really pairs off the fastest drivers out here."

The 2002 Sunoco Pro Stock Shootout champion and current point leader, Montecalvo will be on a mission to add a few more titles to his name.

"We started the season out thinking that we had a fair chance to finish in the top of the field," Montecalvo said. "It is a testament to our hard work that this Citgo / Moser Engineering team is doing so well."

Montecalvo will have the opportunity to re-claim his shootout title at the Sunoco World Nationals, when racing begins on Friday, August 27th.

The Sunoco Pro Stock Shootout will commence during the first round of qualifying on Friday, with the conclusion on Saturday the 28th.

"Sunoco Race Fuels has been a dedicated sponsor of the Pro Stock class for many years, and their continued faith in the sport is encouraging to everyone involved," Montecalvo explained. "On behalf of the JM Racing Team, I would like to thank Sunoco for their support and for providing us with this tremendous shootout program."
