MOPAR PARTS NAMED TITLE SPONSOR AT TWO IHRA NATIONAL EVENTS

NORWALK, Ohio - SUMMIT FastNews - Mopar Parts, the parts division of the Chrysler Corporation, has reached a multiyear agreement with the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) to become the title sponsor for two events in the expanded IHRA National Event Series. Those events will be the Mopar Parts IHRA World Nationals in Norwalk, Ohio August 26-29, 1999 and the Mopar Parts IHRA World Finals at Red River Raceway in Shreveport, La., October 15-17. "Mopar is proud to support the IHRA and the growth of drag racing through this new sponsorship and other associated programs,' said Lou Patane, Executive Director, Chrysler Motorsports Operations and Mopar Performance Parts. "Chrysler Corporation has a history of supporting grassroots racing. Our intent is to strengthen our support of those hands-on enthusiasts and grassroots racers associated with the IHRA and build on that relationship." "Mopar is proud to offer the Hemi engine for competition to the many Super Eliminator and Pro Modified racers who rely on Mopar performance parts to provide them with the competitive advantage," said Ray Richard, Specialist, Mopar Race Team Operations. "In addition to the title sponsorship, Mopar plans to continue its support of the racers through its contingency program." Although Mopar has been a leading supporter of professional and sportsman racing for over 30 years, the new title sponsorship marks Mopar's first official involvement in the IHRA. "Chrysler Corporation and Mopar Performance Parts have been a significant part of our sport's heritage. We are proud to be affiliated with them for 1999, and for many years to come," said IHRA General Manager Bill Bader. Mopar Parts, a division of the Chrysler Corporation, partners with independent repair technicians and distributors worldwide to offer over 250,000 original-equipment parts to enhance Chrysler production vehicles. In addition, it offers high-performance enthusiasts and racers with factory-engineered and factory-developed performance parts to provide them with a competitive edge.
