Team Werner/Lehman Racing will compete in its fifth IHRA event of 2003 this weekend at the Motor City Nationals in Milan, Mich.

Clay Millican, the 2001 and 2002 IHRA World Top Fuel champion, will race in the inaugural IHRA Motor City Nationals on July 11-13 at the Milan Dragway, near Detroit. Millican, the IHRA Top Fuel points leader, will be going for his fourth victory of the season and his 24th career win. Millican is currently in second place on the all-time IHRA Top Fuel wins list, and needs just two more victories to tie the legendary Don Garlits for first place.

In his last race, the Rocky Mountain Nationals in Edmonton, Alberta, Millican set the Budweiser Motorsports Park Top Fuel track record with an elapsed time of 4.666 seconds at a speed of 317.01 mph. In the final round, Bruce Litton handed Millican his first loss of the season. Prior to the race in Edmonton, Millican won the ACDelco Nationals in Richmond, Va., the Mopar Canadian Nationals in Grand Bend, Ontario, and the Amalie Texas Nationals in San Antonio, Texas, where he set a new IHRA Top Fuel record with an elapsed time of 4.591 seconds.
