RADIAC TEAM FALLS SHORT IN EMPIRE NATIONALS QUALIFYING

LEICESTER, NY - Mitchell Stott can only shake his head in disbelief at the fate that has been afforded him during the 1998 season. The Mill Spring, North Carolina driver fell short in his bid to qualify for the IHRA Empire Nationals. His best run, a 6.91/199.40 (22ND) had progressive that indicated a pass as well as a 6.70, but a burned piston forced him to lift and abort his last ditch effort. Going into the session, Stott was 16th.

The Empire Nationals was shortened to two days, one for qualifying and the other for eliminations. That forced many teams to go for kill with their only two runs.

According to Stott, once the car arrives home, the motor will be returned to engine builder Gene Fulton, where it will be repaired in time for testing next week at Darlington.
