LEICESTER, N.Y. - If there's one driver that knows that a war is won by winning many battles it is Bruce Litton. The veteran driver of the Wix Filters presented by the Top Dragster Driving Experience Top Fueler added to his learning experience as he won the IHRA Empire Nationals Top Fuel title in a rain-delayed final against Paul Romine. Held at New York International Raceway Park, the event is the fifth on the IHRA Summit Drag Racing Series.

Litton, an Indianapolis, Ind.-based enclosed trailer dealer, said this is actually turning into a battle of the filter cars.

"This is a battle among the filter cars," smiled Litton. " I wanted this one as bad for Wix as he did for CARQUEST. When you race someone like Paul, you know he is always going to be there and give you a tough run."

He continued, "Paul told me that I was fortunate to leave on Clay in the semis. He told me that he hoped I used all of it up. He red-lighted this time, but trust me, he'll be in a lot more final rounds this season."

This is Litton's third win in four final round appearances this season and the second of three final round wins against fellow Indianapolis-resident Romine.

Litton beat Bobby Lagana, Sr. and Clay Millican in the first and second round of competition, respectively, before facing Romine. The race was over before Litton hit the throttle. Romine left the starting line before the green light (go) was activated resulting in a foul, automatically giving Litton the win. Litton stayed on the throttle to the thousand-foot mark before shutting off and coasting to a 4.842 elapsed time at 257.80 mph; Romine obviously saw the red foul light and shut the engine off immediately.

The win by Litton still leaves Romine with the points lead by a mere six points.

Romine and Litton began their race for the IHRA Summit Championship crown at the season opening Winter Nationals in Darlington, S.C. Romine won that match up, claiming the points lead. Litton defeated Romine in their second final round pairing at the Summer Nationals in Cordova, Ill. Litton would have taken the points lead by three ahead of Romine but was penalized thirty points under the new IHRA Black Flag rule.

The rule costs the competitor $500 and 15 championship points per violation during eliminations.

The Top Dragster Driving Experience has retained Litton's team to carry out their marketing program with WIX Filters. Top Dragster Driving Experience President Joel Collins feels the triangle marketing partnership between WIX Filters, his company and Litton's team provides a future example for other teams aspiring to run Top Fuel.
