United Expressline, Inc. To Back J.R. Todd's Top Fuel Effort
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - It was a month ago that Bruce Litton announced the addition of a second fueler to his program with J.R. Todd given the nod as the driver. The positive trend continues as the 18-year old, former junior dragster standout will have his entry adorned with the livery of United Expressline, Inc., as the major sponsor.
Litton, the current IHRA points leader and winner of the Holley Spring Nationals, can only smile when he looks at the progress of the program.
"We originally planned to field the car out of Bruce Litton Trailer Sales," explained Litton. "Butch Johnson of United Expressline, Inc., saw the potential of what we were doing with J. R. and he wanted to step forward and give it a shot. He really believes in what we are doing and for that I will be grateful forever."
The sponsorship will run for two races beginning at the Amalie Oil Summer Nationals in Cordova, Ill.
Todd has already taken steps towards preparing for the venture. He has already been fitted for the dragster and is scheduled to make his licensing runs during the upcoming War of The Nitro Gods match race in the week prior to Cordova that features Tony Schumacher, Shirley Muldowney, Don Lampus and Litton in Norwalk, Ohio.
United Expressline, Inc., stands as the one of largest manufacturers of enclosed trailers and with Litton's involvement with his trailer dealership, it seemed a natural. They also build custom Freightliner and Kenworth trucks. They are in tune with the benefits of motorsports as they field the Sprint Car in World of Outlaws competition.
Johnson feels that he's making a wise investment with both Litton and his newly appointed driver Todd.
"I'm real excited to be involved with a young driver that carries the kind of credentials that J. R. does into the arena," explained Johnson. "I feel like when we help J.R., it will come back to us and help us well. I believe in investing in the future of the sport. J.R. provides us with a glimpse of the future."
