LAS VEGAS -- Jet-car drag racing with a fireworks finale is set to light up The Strip this weekend, while racers at the half-mile dirt oval battle in a second-over-the-line wins competition. The Speedway Casino Jet Car Night of Fire is set to provide an incredible fire show at The Strip this Saturday night as four of the nation's top fire-breathing machines rocket down the quarter-mile drag strip at speeds exceeding 200 mph. In addition to jet cars, The Strip will host National Performance Center E.T. bracket racing and Junior Dragsters on Saturday. The exciting evening will finish as The Strip gets a head start on the Fourth of July with one of two great fireworks displays at the speedway. The second fireworks spectatular is set for Monday evening at the 3/8-mile paved oval. Entry fee for competitors is $50 for Super Quick and Pro and $40 for Sportsman, Street and Motorcycle racers. Gates are set to open Saturday at 1 p.m. for Junior Dragsters and 4 for bracket racers. Qualifying is scheduled to begin at 5 with eliminations at 8. Tickets for the Night of Fire are $15 for adults and $8 for seniors, military and high-school students. Children 12 and under are free. In addition to this weekend's jet car show, The Strip also will host Friday Night Drags. The event invites High School and Import drivers to compete in bracket eliminations and offers other racers an open test-n-tune and Gambler elimination with a $10 buy-in.
Gates are set to open Friday evening at 5 p.m. with racing from 6 to 11.
Entry fee for Friday Night Drags is $15 for car and driver and $10 for crewmembers. High-school students can compete for $10 with a valid I.D. Spectator admission is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and military and $2 for children 6-12. Children five and under are free.
While the jet cars light up The Strip another firestorm will be brewing at the half-mile dirt oval as drivers in the Thunder Stox division battle in a second-over-the-line wins competition.
The 15-lap race will turn into a bumper-to-bumper pile up as drivers try to cross the finish line second for the victory and $300. The half-mile dirt oval also will host IMCA Late Models, IMCA Modifieds and Hitchin' Post/Exiss Legends Cars.
Spectators at the half-mile dirt oval are invited to visit The Strip for the fireworks show.
Gates are set to open at the half-mile dirt oval at 6 p.m. with heat races at 7:30.
Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and military, $2 for children 6-12 and free for children five and under. A special Family Four Pack is avaiblie for $25.
