IMCA: Las Vegas Acton continues

LAS VEGAS -- E.T. bracket racing and Junior Dragsters will return to The Strip this weekend, while IMCA racing will return to the half-mile dirt oval at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The Strip will host the Summit Racing E.T. Bracket Series sponsored by National Performance Center Saturday night. The Series includes Super Quick, Pro, Sportsman, Street and Motorcycles.

In the Sportsman division, Bill Muller and Michael Jackson are tied for the points lead. Kahea Woods leads Jerry Taylor by one point in the motorcycle division.

Junior Dragster action also will heat up Saturday evening at The Strip. Patrick Welch and Tanna Sanders are tied for the points lead. Welch, a Long Beach, Calif. native, will battle to gain the lead over local dragster Sanders.

Gates are scheduled to open Saturday at 1 p.m. for Jr. Dragsters and 4 p.m. for bracket racers. Qualifying for bracket races is set to begin at 5 p.m. with eliminations at 7:30 p.m.0

Admission on Saturday evening is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and military and $2 for children 6-12. Children five and under are free. The entry fee for Super Quick and Pro is $50 and $40 for all other competitors.

Friday Night Drags will include import bracket racing, High School Eliminations and an open test-n-tune session.=20

Gates open Friday at 5 p.m. with racing from 6 p.m. to eleven. Entry fee at the Friday Night Drags is $15 for car and driver, $10 for crew, $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and military and $2 for children 6-12. Children five and under are free. High-school students can compete for $10.

At the half-mile dirt oval, the IMCA Late Model division will feature fierce action as Mike Fitch and Jim Wulfenstein continue to fight for the points lead. Fitch held a seven-point lead over Wulfenstein until it was tightened by three points at the last event.=20

In the IMCA Modified division, Jim Perkins will attempt to hold on to his slim one-point lead over Dan Fitzgerald. Sonny Wahl took the Hitchin' Post/Exiss Legends points lead over Kyle Busch after the last race. Wahl leads Busch by a mere eight points going into this weekend's race.

Spectator gates open at 6 p.m. Saturday with heat races starting at 7:30. Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and military, $2 for children 6-12 and free for children five and under. The Family Four Pack is $25.
