IDRC West Coast Nationals -- This weekend -- Import Action at Palmdale
Huntington Beach, CA -- The IDRC is set to hold its 6th Annual IDRC West Coast Nationals at the Los Angeles County Raceway this weekend, March 27th and 28th. Import action returns to the birthplace of import drag racing with the IDRC to revive the heart of what import drag racing is all about. Mother Nature has ordered lots of sunny, warm weather for the West Coast Nationals this year. Expect to see mid to high 70's this weekend. Racers and their crews will wage war on the 1320 for the first time this year on the Palmdale asphalt.
The IDRC West Coast Nationals will feature not only import drag racing at its finest, but a plethora of import lifestyle aspects to the venue as well. The EVO-1 Judged Car Show which brought a record high of 100 cars last November is looking to expand and the best show cars from the Southern California region will be attending to represent. DSport Magazine will also be looking for their next "Cover Model". If you or you have a hot girlfriend, bring her out to see if she can be the next DSport Cover Girl!
Racing Action Heating Up
As the import industry continues to grow, racers are continually going faster and faster. With new technologies and gained experience we expect to see many records broken this year. One to watch is the Torco Oil/RS Machine/Bisimoto CRX driven by Bisi Ezerioha, the 2003 IDRC All Motor Champion. Bisi is looking to better his 10.15et performance from last years IDRC International Finals. Look for nines from Bisi this event. Ricky Dela Cruz is searching for three in a row, after winning both the IDRC International Finals in 2003 and the Rockford Fosgate Firebird Nationals earlier this year. Look to find Street Class racers Ari Yallon with his RX7.com Mazda RX7 and Ali Afshar with his Subaru WRX battling it out. Ali Afshar is heard to have the car running with over 700 horsepower. He is looking to put that car deep into the nines. Heads-Up action is heating up, be there to see who will be breaking records.
The Pro-Am field continues to grow every event. At the Rockford Fosgate Firebird Nationals we had our largest fields of Pro-Am Front Wheel Drive and All Motor. With gained interest from many racers, the Pro-Am classes are where many racers can find an affordable class to race there car. The Pro-Am classes are designed to limit costs and have a level playing field for competition. Pro-Am cars are street based vehicles with high horsepower engines, bringing more technology and tuning into the game. These cars may look like your ordinary Honda driving around town, but when it comes down to it these are today's hot rods.
The IDRC is proud to announce the addition to two new Heads-Up classes geared towards the entry level racer, The BFGoodrich Tire TRUE STREET Turbo FWD/RWD and the BFGoodrich Tire TRUE STREET All Motor. These two classes are designed for everyday street driven cars to run on street radial tires (Drag Radial tires are ok). The Turbo FWD/RWD class is for the street driven turbocharged cars front wheel or rear wheel drive and the All Motor class is for the Street Driven Naturally Aspirated cars. These two great classes are the best way to get involved with the IDRC at low costs and to get a feel of Heads-Up drag racing.
