Hanna Motorsports announces "Queen of Diamonds" Jet Dragster driver change -- Aggi Hendriks returns.
Enfield, CT -- 6/11/02 - Al Hanna, President of Hanna Motorsports, today announced a driver change for their "Queen of Diamonds" 300 MPH Jet Dragster program. Hanna stated that Jessica Willard, citing personal reasons, had resigned effective immediately. "Jessica has done a terrific job for our company. We wish her the best of luck as she moves in a different direction."
The new driver for the "Queen of Diamonds" is Aggi Hendriks of Hillsboro, Oregon. Aggi Hendriks carries heavy credentials back into the sport of drag racing as she was the first woman in history licensed in the jet category. As driver of the 'Odyssey' Jet Dragster, based in Chicago, IL, Aggi toured the nation setting multiple track ET and speed records throughout the '80's and early '90's. "The sport of professional jet dragster racing is special to me. When I received the call from the Hannas, I saw this as an opportunity to renew old friendships and make many new ones as well. I look forward to getting back into the swing of things and helping the Hanna family grow into the future."
"We couldn't be happier that Aggi has decided to join our program", stated Al Hanna. "When I first started racing jet cars, after leaving nitro, Aggi Hendriks became a friend, and has remained so through today. There is no better choice for our family then to have the one of the premier pioneers of successful women in motorsports, and a 'Hall of Fame' member, wheel our "Queen of Diamonds" 300 MPH Jet Dragster."
After testing and licensing in late June, Aggi will make her debut July 3rd at Raceway Park, Englishtown, NJ, followed by appearances at several key tracks throughout the region including New England Dragway, Atco Raceway, and Maple Grove Raceway.
Hanna Motorsports fields three jet-powered machines, the "Eastern Raider" Pontiac Firebird, the "First Strike" Pontiac Firebird, World Speed and ET Record Holder, and the "Queen of Diamonds" 300 MPH Jet Dragster. The Hannas soon will debut their newest project, the "Top Secret" Pontiac Firebird Jet Funny Car. An all-new jet dragster is also on the drawing board, and fans can expect a breakthrough design change in the jet dragster category for 2003.
Hanna Motorsports is based in Enfield, CT and carries the support of several key sponsors including Bicycle Playing Cards, AJK Engineering, East Coast Aero Tech, Smith Transport, and Biz Jet International.
