Grand Band, ONTARIO - The Toyz Shop Motorsports team, sporting the Cutler-Hammer logo on their '33 Willys may not have qualified during their first venture back this season at the Canadian Mopar Nationals, but the fans appeared not to care. A phenomenal number of photos were taken in the pits and positive remarks on how "cool" the car looked.
"We would have really liked to have the car be in the program, especially at our home track, and with our new sponsor Cutler-Hammer in attendance, but the tune-up when the weather changed was just not there. We have struggled in the past during similar weather conditions to qualify the car and this weekend was no exception. I am happy to say that I have consulted with others who in the past have suffered similarly and believe we may have found the problem. The team is overly excited though in the anticipation of the arrival of our new car and can't wait to head out again. We would like to thank Bruce Boland for the use of his '33 Willys for the national event and the support of our sponsors for our return to racing this season", stated Driver and team owner, Carl Spiering.
This event marked a first in participation for Cutler-Hammer in drag racing. Several of the staff and associates of Cutler-Hammer were able to join the team at the Mopar Canadian Nationals. Not knowing what to expect with the crowds, the Night of Fire and the sheer performance of the racecars weren't something you could easily describe but had to witness first hand.
Also at the event were representatives from fellow sponsors Pace American and johnbear.com. The Toyz Shop Motorsports would like to thank additional sponsors; Crane, VP Fuels, Bicknell Racing Products and Pennzoil.
