GRAND BEND, Ont. - The field has been set for the LIZZARD RACING ENGINES Top Sportsman at the IHRA Mopar Parts Canadian Nationals in Grand Bend, Ont.

For the second event in a row, Canada's Kasey Janzen scored the top qualifying spot in his Niagara Falls, Ont.-based, supercharged Lumina to the top spot of the special race-within-a-race with a 6.527, 211.76.

The runner-up spot in qualifying belonged to the beautiful supercharged Ford Probe of Conneaut, Ohio's Harry Rockwell. Rockwell's entry was close with a 6.555, 212.81.

Larry Sinke gave his home province fans something to cheer about as he landed in the third spot with his supercharged classic. Sinke, of Welland, ran a 6.608, 210.37 in his 1936 Olds.

Rounding out the top-half of the program was another Canadian. Mark Nielsen pushed his supercharged 2000 Camaro to a 6.664, 211.11 to complete the clean sweep of the top four spots by the blower cars.

The balance of the field included Dave Thomasino (6.691, 207.99), Rick Sornberger (6.754, 203.02), Jim Gleason (7.024, 175.71) and Brian Tiffe (7.062, 195.60).

Final eliminations are slated for this evening at 7 PM, EST.
