International Hot Rod Association: Jim Bailey had to do it the hard way, but he collected a final round victory in the Top Fuel division of the IHRA Mopar Performance Parts Canadian Nationals at Grand Bend, Ontario, Canada.

All told, Goodyear-clad racers won seven of the 14 divisions in the event.

Bailey had to work his way through the bottom of the ladder before winning the final with a 4.914-second, 286.16 mph run.

Doug Vancil won the Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harley Davidson final on Goodyears, ripping down the track in 6.551 seconds, good for 204.35 mph. Gene Wilson won the Sunoco Race Fuels Pro Stock final. Gilmer Hinshaw won the NOS Top Sportsman final when his opponent jumped the start.

The best race of the day came in the Annihilator Top Dragster final. Mike Fuqua finished in a mathematical dead heat with Tim Butler. The CompuLink win judge gave the win to Fuqua.

Robert Staton won the Hooker Modified final and Anthony Bertozzi won the Lunati Super Stock title.
