GRAND BEND, ONT. - Bruce Litton had one of those weekends that he would just as soon to forget. The veteran Top Fuel driver from Indianapolis, Ind., who pilots the Wix Filters presented by the Top Dragster Driving Experience, exploded an engine, nearly failed to qualified, was fined championship points, lost in the first round and inevitably lost the points lead that he attained after winning the IHRA Holley Spring Nationals.

Litton understands that outings like this build character and that he understands that it is a part of the racing experience.

"This is one of those things in fine print when you sign the proverbial contract that enters you into the world of drag racing," an upbeat Litton explained. "Drag racing can put you on top of the world and on the same token, it can humble you a whole lot. I try not to dwell on that stuff."

Litton kaboomed a motor in the first run and the force of the explosion actually split the block in six parts. Because his misfortune deposited oil on the track, it cost him per IHRA rules credit for the run and 15 points against his points total.

His second attempt offered no reprieve as the car went up in smoke and his eight second run netted him a ninth position for the eight-car field.

He earned a berth in final eliminations as he jumped into the sixth position. He lost a tough match against Shirley Muldowney in the first round.

The next stop on Litton's tour will be this weekend at the major match race venue known as the Battle of the Nitro Gods, hosted by Norwalk Raceway Park in Norwalk, Ohio. He will also assist in licensing his second team driver J.R. Todd at the same event.

The Top Dragster Driving Experience has retained Litton's team to carry out their marketing program with WIX Filters. Top Dragster Driving Experience President Joel Collins feels the triangle marketing partnership between WIX Filters, his company and Litton's team provides a future example for other teams aspiring to run Top Fuel.

Wix Filters stands as one of the World's top filtration companies and was founded in 1939. Wix manufactures quality products for the automotive, heavy-duty, agricultural, industrial, and specialty filter markets, including oil, air, fuel, cabin interior, and hydraulic filters. In addition to the Wix brand, they manufacture filters for major aftermarket companies and some of the largest OEM's. You will find their top quality, high performance filters on everything from passenger cars and light trucks to farm and construction equipment, industrial air cleaners, and Top Fuel dragsters.
