Alamo, CA - The Goodguys Vintage Drag Racing Association announced today that all 10 spots in the Goodguys 5-Second Club (For Goodguys-legal front engined top fuel dragsters) have been permanently filled. The first five-second top fuel run to occur at a Goodguys/VRA sanctioned event occurred April 19th, 1998 when Bill Dunlap drove Mike Fuller's "Westwind" Donovan powered entry to a 5.98 at Sonoma's Sears Point Raceway.

Since that first "Five" there have been almost two-dozen five second runs at Goodguys/VRA events with Utah's Jack "The Sheriff" Harris, Fresno's Rance McDaniel, San Jose's Gerry Steiner and Cedar Falls, Iowa racer Roger Lechtenberg logging multiple fives within the same event.

Goodguys will introduce all ten official 5-Second Club Members in a special ceremony on Saturday, November 2nd as part of the Goodguys Fuel & Gas Finals November 1, 2 & 3, 2002 at Bakersfield's Famoso Raceway.

Each member will be awarded a special edition, one-off Goodguys 5-Second club trophy which has been handcrafted by Patrick Pierce of Austin Sculptures. The sculptures feature a vintage style open face helmet with goggles and the famed gas-mask style breathers.
