IHRA has announced the expansion of their Communications and Publications department. Mike Perry has been hired as Assistant Editorial Director for Drag Review and C.J. Perry has been hired as Public Relations and Communication Manager.
Perry comes to IHRA with 15 years experience as a journalist and will assist Managing Editor Pam Marchyshyn with daily operations. Perry most recently worked as a general assignment sportswriter for the Butler (PA) Eagle covering high school, college and professional sports including the Pittsburgh Steelers. Perry also has covered the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Cavaliers in the past. "I'm looking forward to joining IHRA at a point when its popularity is poised to explode," stated Perry. "Drag Review is a great publication, but I know we can only improve it and turn it into a premiere source of information for the members of IHRA and get maximum exposure for our sponsors and marketing partners."
"I know there are interesting stories out there, and look forward to writing about the personalities, racing technology and the facilities that make IHRA unique," added Perry.
A graduate of Kent State University, Perry lives with his wife Christy in Parma, Ohio and enjoys reading and playing in a 28 year-old and over baseball league.
"IHRA has grown and so has Drag Review," stated Marchyshyn. "Mike Perry will be a great addition to the staff. He is a talented and observant writer who will take us to the next level. Drag Review is a powerful marketing tool; the best way to serve our readers and advertisers is to publish the best magazine we can. I know Mike can help us reach our goals."
C.J. Perry joins IHRA as Public Relations and Communication Manager. CJ has a strong background in broadcast media, working as a journalist, producer and on-camera reporter for BCSN (Buckeye Cable Sports Network), WTOL-TV and WTWB TV, in Toledo.
"I was looking for a challenge, and felt I can help IHRA reach a larger audience," stated Perry. "IHRA already has a strong and growing media presence and I look forward to working with Speed Channel, national and local print and television, radio and the internet to build a higher profile for the IHRA brand."
CJ Perry, a University of Toledo graduate, enjoys playing the guitar, writing screenplays and filmmaking.
"With the addition of C.J. Perry and Mike Perry, the IHRA has taken a major step to grow this company," stated Aaron Polburn, President of IHRA. "Bringing on C.J. and Mike shows our ongoing commitment to expanding our media presence and getting the most exposure for our sponsors."
Both have relocated and will be based at IHRA World Headquarters in Norwalk, OH.
