STROUPE FAILS TO MAKE CUT AT NORTH AMERICAN NATIONALS

EPPING, NH--- Wally Stroupe may have gotten fooled for a brief moment by his performance at the recently completed World Nationals. But, he still retains the logic that he still has a long way to go in his recovery since a devastating fire in the opening race on the Snap-On Tools/IHRA series in Bradenton, Florida. His performance at the North American Nationals leads him to believe that he still has a way to go to return to the prominence that he once enjoyed. This is only the second race for the Kings Mountain, North Carolina based driver since receiving third degree burns in the March mishap.

"We just had some tough breaks this weekend," explained Stroupe. "But, we never surrendered once. We kept plugging away and sincerely hoped that things would improve. There were a couple of times that I could have pushed the car on the edge, but I deemed it to be a wiser decision to lift when I got out of shape. That is a decision that I will stand behind no matter what."

Stroupe only made one complete run during the four sessions afforded him. His efforts landed him in the 21st spot with an uncharacteristic 6.832/207.91.

He will attempt to reverse his fortunes in two weeks at the President's Cup Nationals in Budds Creek, Maryland.
