EPPING, NH. - Funny Car racer Terry McMillen liked running the Amalie Oil livery at the IHRA Amalie Oil Summer Nationals back in June so much, that he's signed up for another go-round during this weekend's Amalie Oil North American Nationals at New England Dragway in Epping, N.H.
The Mopar Funny Car will be adorned with the trademark gator of Amalie Oil and just like the last time it hit the track, it will be ready to devour the competition.
"It's been one of those years where each sponsor has stepped up to make sure we get to the races after losing our major sponsor of the last three years," explained team manager Rhonda McMillen. "We would be wrong not to thank Vintage Trailers, Valley Screen and Amalie Oil for their support this year. The team could not have competed without their support. This just goes to show you what loyal companies these are. In February it look as though the car would have to be parked and now it looks like we may be around for a while if all plans stay on course"
She continued her praise, "We have been blessed with great sponsors and IHRA and CompetitionPlus.com have all played a roll in keeping the bright yellow dodge avenger in everyone's sight."
McMillen is enjoying one of his finest seasons to date. After several quarter-final finishes, one of which came during the Cordova event, McMillen holds out hope for a national event win.
"It's going to come soon," explained McMillan. "You can't keep plugging away at something as hard as we have and it not come through in the end."
