EPPING, NH--- It was as if the Pro Modified contingent at the North American Nationals were racing for second place. The sellout crowd at New England Dragway were treated to another stunning Scotty Cannon showcase of talent and horsepower. The five-time world champion all but secured his sixth world championship by performing a clean sweep that included four reset world records, a pole position and a convincing win.

Cannon reset the world record in the first round in defeating a broken Tommy Gray by posting a stunning 6.362/221.92. As if his feat weren't enough, he countered in the second round with another 6.36 with a speed that surpassed 222.33 miles per hour. The Eagle Racing Engines powered, 1953 Studebaker flexed its muscles yet again and reset the elapsed time record. The Cable TV Magazine backed entry roared to an unprecedented 6.348 elapsed time in topping nemesis Shannon Jenkins. Cannon is the only Pro Modified to run in the 6.3 second range under legal IHRA specs.

The finals posted no contest for Cannon as he reeled off his worst lap, a 6.487/216.41 that was more than enough to stop Tim McAmis, who slowed with a 6.90/158. The win marked the fourth of the season for Cannon. He was also recognized for his sixth consecutive appointment to the Car Craft Magazine All-Star Team also this weekend.
