Dwayne Rice Falls Short In North American Nationals Eliminations

EPPING, NH. - What looked like it had the potential to be a good showing at the Amalie Oil North American Nationals for Dwayne Rice, failed to produce the results that he hoped for. In the first round of eliminations, he dropped a tough match against Carl Baker.

The Grove City, Ohio-based, excavator made an excellent run right off of the bat. Rice blasted out a 6.677, 209.69 to earn a berth in the field after the first session. He fell short of improvement on the Friday evening session and ended the day as the fourth quickest.

Rice, enjoying one of his finest qualifying efforts in some time, came out aggressive on Saturday qualifying. He knew that he was going to have more than a 6.677 to retain his fourth spot. Rice was too aggressive on the first attempt and danced and shook to an 8.061. He backed it down for the final shot with a 6.720. He concluded the day as the seventh quickest.

In his first round match against Baker, Rice was late leaving the starting line and from that point the deficit was tough to overcome. Rice absorbed the loss with a 6.751, 208.42.
