ROCKINGHAM, NC - More times than not, the decision to abort a run when the car turns sideways almost always ends up to be the best judgement for a drag racer. Dwayne Rice, 28, of Grove City, Ohio, who pilots the quickest and fastest Pontiac Pro Stocker in the World, decided to save his car to race another day after it made an abrupt turn towards the other lane in the first round of competition at the IHRA Holley Spring Nationals in Rockingham, NC. The decision saved his ride, but cost him a first round match against Bob Holzer.

"Drag racing is a sport that requires split-second decisions and affords one no margin for error," explained Rice. "This is just one event and we have plenty more down the road to make up for this one."

Holzer was slightly quicker off of the line and Rice had made up the deficit by the 60-foot mark. However, winds and a tricky racing surface got the best of Rice as he coasted to a 7.679/192.88.

The next event on the IHRA tour will take place June 2-4, at Grand Bend Motorplex for the Mopar Parts Canadian Nationals presented by Castrol.
