ROMINE EARNS RUNNER-UP AT IHRA SOUTHERN NATIONALS

DARLINGTON, S.C. -- Reigning IHRA Top Fuel World Champion Paul Romine earned a runner-up finish Monday at the rained delayed IHRA Southern Nationals at Darlington Internationals Dragway in Darlington, S.C.

Despite a .011 hole shot, Romine with the CARQUEST Top Fuel dragster ran 4.972/289.01 losing to Tommy Johnson Jr.’s 4.941/288.83.

"“Man, I’ve got to tell you, that was a close drag race, only .011 at the finish line,"” Romine said. " “Tommy’s got his act together right now and it’s going to be a great points race this season. I’m looking forward to Cordova because I’d like to get that points lead back"
