Emery Racing Reaches Finals Of Majesty Homes Groundhog Warm-Up, Broken Transmission Forces Runner-up!

DARLINGTON, SC-- It may have ended abruptly in the finals, but for Colton's Point, Md., Top Fuel Harley Racer Jamie Emery, the Majesty Homes Groundhog Warm-up provided an excellent test session for his family-owned team. This was the first outing for the team that finished in the Top 10 of the Screamin' Eagle/IHRA Top Fuel Harley division for 1998. Steve Moore went essentially unchallenged for the victory at the Darlington International Dragway-hosted event.

"We wanted to try a few combinations, but breakage got the best of us in the end," explained Emery. "That's the thing about testing. Sometimes you can venture too far off of your combination and when you do -- you'll know it."

The 23-year old Emery, who recently announced intentions of getting married, was the first of his division to successfully navigate the sometimes tricky, but excellent, racing surface of Darlington International Dragway. He recorded a 7.323/186.02 to take the early lead in testing for his division. This provides a great motivational push leading into the Prolong Winter Nationals, the site of a runner-up finish during the 1998 season.

The next event for the G&H Jewelers/Jam-On Productions-sponsored, Emery team will be the IHRA Prolong Winter Nationals, March 12-14. Emery, along with the rest of the Top Fuel Harley contingent, will take assault on the Darlington International Dragway racing surface for the start of the 1999 season. Qualifying will begin with two sessions on Friday, followed by another two on Saturday. Final eliminations are slated to begin at Noon on Sunday
