BRINSFIELD INVOLVED IN CRASH AT MAJESTY HOMES GROUNDHOG WARM-UP, EMERGES UNHURT

DARLINGTON, SC--- Dale Brinsfield made a memorable debut for the 1999 season. The veteran Pro Modified racer, who had earlier in the year announced a major sponsor with Dylan Mortgage, was involved in a two-car crash during the final round of the Majesty Homes Groundhog Warm-Up. The Greensboro, NC based driver emerged without injury. However, his 1963 Corvette was a total loss and appears to be unsalvageable. Hood was uninjured as well.

Reports of the crash indicate that the car drifted out of the groove and into opponent Ronnie Hood's lane. Hood was not able to get on the brakes enough to avoid clipping Brinsfield's entry. The Dylan Mortgage entry spun out of control and Brinsfield's entry struck the right-lane guardrail.

Brinsfield was visibly shaken and remorseful that such an incident took place. He commented, "You always hate that something like this happens, but unfortunately it does. All we can do in an instance like this is regroup and try to make a comeback for the next event. I am truly glad the neither Ronnie, nor myself were injured."

It is uncertain how the crash affects Brinsfield's plans to compete in the IHRA Prolong Winter Nationals, scheduled for March 12-14. That information will be officially released at a later date.
