QUAIN STOTT FALLS IN FIRST ROUND AT IHRA SUMMER NATIONALS

CORDOVA, ILL. (July 5, 1998)— Sometimes qualifying can mean one thing and eliminations mean another. Inman, South Carolina's Quain Stott will swear by that point. One day after qualifying with 4th with a 6.59/211.83, he lost a tough first round match against defending world champion Shannon Jenkins.

Jenkins holeshot Stott and maintained the advantage for the length of the course. When the finish lights rung up a 6.624/209.30 to 6.619/211.63 victory for Jenkins, it spelled the second time this season that the Bug Eater sponsored driver had lost in the first round.

The next outing for Stott will be next weekend at the IHRA Empire Nationals in Leicester, New York.
