CORDOVA, IL. - Dwayne Rice is on a hot streak in his IHRA Firebird Pro Stocker. However, there's one title that he really wants back. The veteran excavator, who first ascended in Pro Stock from Modified, wants to be the quickest and fastest Pontiac driver in all of Pro Stock. Unfortunately, he fell short of gaining his crown back at the IHRA Amalie Oil Summer Nationals.

Rice traveled from his hometown of Grove City, Ohio to Cordova, IL., to put his mark on the latest IHRA national event. Friday's qualifying run of 6.783/204.76 put Rice into the upper part of the field. By the final attempt at the field on Friday, Rice had improved to a 6.684/206.99 and the third spot in the field. This put him on the ladder for a first round against Charlie Peppers.

Rice took all he had to the line, with an almost perfect reaction time (.408) and a 6.725/207.15 for the win. Rice went to the second round against veteran Jon Yoak with the same intentions. However, Yoak knew Rice was hungry and quick, and went for the win. Yoak was able to outreact Rice on the start, and Rice's quicker 6.721/206.61 was not enough to carry him out of the semis at this event.

Up to date results of the IHRA can be accessed at www.ihra.com.

Rice will travel next to the IHRA CARQUEST Northern Nationals at Leicester, NY, July 14-16. More information is available on the Internet's largest drag racing e-zine, CompetitionPlus.Com.
