Millican Number One Qualifier at IHRA World Nationals; Race Postponed

Norwalk, Ohio - August 29, 2004 Three-time IHRA Top Fuel Champion Clay Millican of Team Werner/Lehman Racing qualified in the number one spot after two qualifying sessions at the IHRA World Nationals at Norwalk Raceway Park, but the race was postponed until Saturday, October 9 due to rain.

Millican made two strong qualifying passes to take the top qualifying position with an elapsed time of 4.656 at 310.84 mph. Eliminations were set to take place on Saturday, but rain prevented the Top Fuel field from making any passes on Saturday evening or Sunday morning.

Millican is the winningest professional driver in IHRA history, and currently has a lead of 251 points over his nearest competitor, Bruce Litton, in the 2004 IHRA Top Fuel points standings. He has 36 career IHRA victories under his belt, and will look for his next IHRA win at the North American Nationals in Epping, N.H., on September 10-12.
