Following the first qualifying session Millican held the number five spot, but moved into first after the second session, setting a new track record in elapsed time with a 4.685 second pass down the quarter mile track. Saturday's schedule of events includes one more Top Fuel qualifying session at 11:00 a.m. ET, followed by eliminations beginning at 6:00 p.m.
At last year's Northern Nationals Millican made history by becoming the winningest Top Fuel driver in IHRA history with his 26th career victory, eclipsing "Big Daddy" Don Garlits' record of 25 wins. Millican has since become the winningest IHRA driver in any professional category, with a total of 35 wins. He will look to get his sixth victory of the 2004 season and the 36th of his career in Saturday's eliminations.
Millican currently holds the top spot in the IHRA Top Fuel points standings. His nearest competitor, Bruce Litton, trails Millican by 190 points. Litton has finished second to Millican in the Top Fuel points totals the past three years.
