Stott Falls In First Round Of Competition At Presidents Cup Nationals

BUDDS CREEK, MD.-- Just when it was looking as if things were going to be in Quain Stott's favor, things fell apart at a rapid pace. The Spartanburg, S.C., based driver of the Bug Eater sponsored, 1963 Corvette fell in the first round of Pro Modified eliminations at the Presidents Cup Nationals at Maryland International Dragway. His loss came at the hands of the Brian Gahm driven, 1963 Corvette.

Stott fared well in qualifying by posting his personal, quickest-ever elapsed time during the Maryland Lottery Night Of Fire session on Saturday night. He blasted a 6.469//218.23 that placed him in the fourth spot.

In the first round, Gahm had a slightly quicker reaction time than Stott. It was all he needed as he rolled through the lights first with a 6.625/211.16. Stott was considerably off of his qualifying pace with a 6.737/214.28.
