BONNE TERRE, Mo. -- (Sept. 28, 2002) The 2002 regular season at Big River Sand Drags came to an end Saturday night with the crowning of Tom Boyster at the "Overall ATV Track Champion" and Steve Barton as the "Overall MSRA Track Champion."
Boyster had to defeat Sam Coleman in the ATV championship race while Barton had to defeat Tim Dee. In a unique twist, both Boyster and Barton won their titles when their competition "broke out" during the ET style race.
During the regular competition part of the night, Eric McCoy of Potosi won first place in Junior ATV while Garth Farris placed second. In Super Pro ATV, Doug Brown was the first place and top eliminator winner while Ziggy Ziegler finished second.
In Pro ATV, Tim Brown was first and Jason Waller second, but it was Waller winning the top eliminator race.
In Vehicle ET, Philip Beaird was the top eliminator and first place winner while Steve Barton finished second.
In Off Road Modified, Todd Dee captured first place while James Womble was second.
In Stock Buggy, Josh Harris was the top eliminator and first place winner while Rick Keller brought home second place.
In Open 4x4, Terry Wies was the first place winner while Tim Griffin captured second place and top eliminator.
The races concluded the regular season program at Big River Sand Drags. The only event remaining on the schedule is Saturday, Oct. 5 and Sunday, Oct. 6, with the second annual ATV Nationals. Registration begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday with time trials at 10:30 both days. Racing begins at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday for the Junior ATV, Stock and Super Modified classes. Racing begins at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday for the Unlimited and Modified Stock classes. There will be no registration on Sunday.
