RICHMOND, Virginia (6/1/98) -- Results from the 7th annual AMA/Prostar Dixie Nationals.

In Top Fuel, Tony Lang defeated Chris Hand with bracket-race style... Lang had been running 6.4-second times all weekend and in the final round, his 6.41-second lap was what it took to put Chris Hand 6.60-second pass into the second place spot.

Pro Modified seems to have a new king after Bill Vose decided to make the jump to Funnybike. Rick Bunting picked up his second win in as many races by defeating Tony Sabino in the quickest side by side race the class has ever seen. Bunting illuminated the win light by running 6.90-seconds, 200.80 mph, to Sabinos quick, but not quick enough 6.91-second lap.

The AMA/Prostar Pro Stock class is one of the most competitive classes in the sport and it looked as if class-rookie Shawn Gann could have put a new name on the winners list, but reigning class champion Paul Gast had other thoughts in mind. Gast defeated Gann, 7.43-seconds to 7.66-seconds, shattering the rookies fantasy. "We'll just keep working at it until we do it" explained Blake Gann, Shawns father.

Other winners included Michael Phillips in Top Gas, Keith Dennis in 600 Supersport, James Teasley Jr. in Super Comp, Robin Ray in Super Gas, David Stewart in 1200 Pro Street, Rickey Gadson in Pro Superbike, Roman Cosner in Pro ET, and Trevor Altman in Street ET.
