Double victory for Adrian Campfield
The 19-year old Briton Adrian Campfield clinched a brace of commanding victories in the third and fourth races of the ADAC Formula Masters powered by Volkswagen season at Assen (NL). Alongside him on the winner's podium for the two races in the "star of tomorrow" class was the Dutch local matador Liroy Stuart as well as the Austrian Klaus Bachler. In the first race Stuart was just ahead, in the second race Bachler finished second.

Bonafede dominates at Killarney
Gennaro Bonafede was the man of the Volkswagen Polo Cup South Africa race weekend. The 18-year old convincingly won the fifth and sixth races of the season at Killarney. In the first race took the chequered flag ahead of Jared Mortimer and Kieren Quarmby in second and third places respectively. In the second race he won from Devin Robertson and Mortimer, who also mounted the podium twice.

Wins for Gordon Connelly and Wesleigh Orr
Gordon Connelly and Wesleigh Orr were the winners of the fifth and sixth races of the Formula Volkswagen South Africa at Killarney. Connelly won the weekend's first race around the track located north of Cape Town from Orr and Cristiano Morgardo. Orr won the second race from Connelly and Jayde Kruger.

Nasser Al-Attiyah strengthens Volkswagen team for 2010 Dakar Rally
The Volkswagen squad for the 2010 Dakar Rally is finalised. Nasser Al-Attiyah starts the second running of the cross country rally in South America for the first time in a Race Touareg. The 38-year old from Qatar shares the cockpit with co-driver Timo Gottschalk (D). Carlos Sainz competes with a new co-driver. His landsman Lucas Cruz will navigate the Spaniard in the future. On the other hand the two crews that claimed a historical one-two in this year's "Dakar", the first victory for diesel power, remain unchanged: Giniel de Villiers/Dirk von Zitzewitz (ZA/D) and Mark Miller/Ralph Pitchford (USA/ZA).

Preparation of the Scirocco GT24 for the 24-hour race enters final phase
The Volkswagen factory team's preparations for the 24-hour race around the Nurburgring-Nordschleife enter the final phase: Four of the five Scirocco GT24, two with innovative Natural Gas and a pair with conventional gasoline power, completed a successful roll-out last week. The near 300 hp sport coupes, which will compete on 23 and 24 May in the endurance classic in the Eifel, were completely rebuilt and concluded their maiden runs without problems at Oschersleben. The fifth Scirocco GT24, which is powered by gasoline, will be finished on Tuesday and completes its roll-out on Wednesday on the Volkswagen test track at Ehra-Lessien.

Season opener for "star of tomorrow" talent
The opening round of the DTM at Hockenheim (15-17 May) is, at the same time, also the season premier for numerous young talents: Seven driver with Volkswagen engines start in the Formula 3 Euro Series. Around the track in Baden the French team Signature fields three Dallara F308-Volkswagen for Mika Maki (FIN), Jean Karl Vernay (F) and Tiago Geronimi (BR). Red Bull Formula 1 test driver Brendon Hartley (NZ) and Jake Rosenzweig (USA) compete for the English team Carlin Motorsport, Carlo van Dam (NL) and Robert Wickens (CDN) line up for the German squad Kolles & Heinz Union. The ADAC Volkswagen Polo Cup starts its twelfth season also at Hockenheim. Twenty-six young talents aged between 16 and 24 and representing six different nations compete in the "touring car school".
